Loss of WiFi on change to FTTP

I am on 500/70 FTTP connection. My PC (wired) gives me full 500/70 but my Netgear Orbi mesh wifi on my Android phone / iPad gives me max 180 / 70. Previously with Virgin 350, I was getting about 250ish on WiFi.

Do I need to tweak any settings?

So... not exactly loss of WiFi, but more of reduced speeds? Which ISP is it and what router are you using? How is the Orbi connected to it? Did you just plug the Orbi in to the new router without changing any settings?

In that case I would have a look at the WiFi settings. The first thing I would check if the Orbi allows it is the channel width, judging from the current speeds I assume the devices are already using 5GHz. Maybe after the reset it changed the 5GHz frequency into a smaller width which can lead to a speed reduction.

Another thing to check, is the main Orbi node in the same place as before? Or did you have to move it? If you did move it, perhaps the new place is more out of the way for the other nodes to connect to.

Using 5g. Also nide in the same place. Interestingly on the Android phone if I go into the Orbi directly (192.168.x.x) and do the test, I get full speeds up and down. Using Ookla speed test, I get low results.

In that case I would change the server speedtest.net is using. Is it using the same test server as when you test it on PC?

EDIT: Wait I misread, when you do the Orbi test on your phone it's most likely testing from the Orbi itself, not the phone, so it still won't rule out if your WiFi is being limited. Have you checked the channel width on 5GHz yet?

Tried change of server - no change. Also, Netgear Orbi 5 GHz is on Auto and one cannot change this as far as I know.

Download a WiFi analyser app on your phone then have a look at the 5GHz details there. If it's only 40Mhz wide then that will limit the speeds a fair bit. Ideally the Orbi should be using 80MHz minimum for the best speeds.

Alternative option, have you tried using the router from Giganet and the Orbi in access point mode (if it offers that), and see if that perhaps is any better?

Will try an analyser. Giganet router was the first thing I tried when I changed to FTTP. This was causing too many other issues and swapped over to direct connection after consulting Giganet.
