Loss of wireless signal

For the first few weeks after I got my wireless n network card, I used to get consistent maximum signal on my PC. However last week, the power in my house went out and when the power came back on, everything works but I dont get such a consistent signal. I.E it sometimes drops down to 4 bars then goes back to 5 bars.

Is this something I should be worried about, especially when it comes to gaming and downloading ?

I have tried moving the antennas on the network card, the one on the router is internal I think (otherwords I cant see it or move it) I have also tried reconnecting to my network and disabling and re-enabling my network card.
 
I constantly get 4 bars on anything in my place. It's not a huge problem having a lower signal strength, it just means it's more likely to drop out in the event of an opposing wireless signal.
It doesn't reduce download speeds significantly though.

If you've previously bought a wireless phone, that could also interfere and reduce signal strength.
 
Thanks for the reply, that sounds more re-assuring. On speedtest.net, I did a ping test and noticed it wasnt getting any packet loss. I should be ok then shouldnt it ?
 
You should be okay with no Packet Loss. It might be worth checking what other Wireless Networks are in your area, or get some sort of a Network Scanner on your phone and do a quick test.

Once you find a good clear couple of channels, move your router to that. :)
 
Ive fixed it. I just moved the network card so that it sits on my desk. I had it on my bedside table in which it used to keep maximum signal. Since moving it onto my desk, I havnt seen the signal drop and its been constant at 5 bars.

A moderator may aswell remove this thread now :)
