Lost a core

I have just got a new case and transfered my system into it but when i restarted according to Vista i have lost a core. Is it possible for one core to just stop working? I have a 3800 X2.

I don't you've lost a core otherwise the CPU would stop working it is just one of those Vista incompatibilities, I wouldn't worry about it for now.

Just installed Vista Home Premium here yesterday and
i can only see 1 Core too. Much annoyed

I could see two before with a side bar util, it still shows two cores but #2 never shows any activity

so you can have one core at 100% and the other at 0%?

After a little bit of messing around my other core has appeared in windows device manager

But CPU-Z shows only 1 core

I have no idea why either which is even more confusing,
