Lost a crown, do I have any rights to a new one (not a GOT thread)?

Before I get told no by the Dentist do I have a 12 month warranty or similar?

Earlier this year I paid £250 for a crown and last week while eating it must have slipped off and ended up in my belly. Is it tough luck or should it have stayed in? I have at least 5 other crowns that I've had for years.

Any info/links appreciated.
 
Depends, but usually one would guarentee the work for twelve months.
If the crown is off, core intact and nothing under has broken, that would suggest a cementation failure.
Shame it has been swallowed, could have been recemented otherwise.

....might still be if you recover it ;)

If the core is fractured then it is more complex situation, as it may suggest that although the tooth has been crowned, something else might have happened.
Usually some form of gesture would be made by the dentist. Do a new crown at lab only cost, or split fee, or complete free replacement.
 
Will be surprised if you get a replacement for free. My dentist always covers themselves by saying "ohh this is quite tricky" ...etc and insists that there is a possibility it might not hold. And then asks if im still happy to go ahead with the treatment (in one case a crown and in another a particularly large filling)

Just another scam industry.. i class them in the same ****** bracket as GPS, politicians, insurance companies and bankers.
 
I have a couple of gold crowns that have been in for 50 years - Had them done when you had a choice of gold -white enamel - - also got some fillings that are gold -done around same time -

Was at dentist a few weeks ago and he x-rayed them to see if they were OK inside - will call you back if needed - not heard from him so seems to be ok.
 
I'm part way through round 2 of a root canal on one tooth (needed a specliast as first dentist only found 3 of 4 canals), once done it'll be crowned and having spent £915 already so far - I'll be upset if that crown came out and I had to spend more to repalce it!
