I've just turned my PC on today to find 90% of my bookmarks(in Firefox) has went missing. The few that's left have no names on them. I've tried doing a system restore, but that's no use.

Is there anyway I could get these bookmarks back? I had a lot and need them. I seem to remember firefox doing this in the past, is it a common problem?

Thanks.

[edit]
It could be something to do with the FF update.

do a search for bookmarks.html

should be in %appdata% i think

just do a search on whole pc

use mozbackup in future

Your profile should live at %APPDATA%/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/[random text].[profile name]
Did you work out what had happened? bookmarks.html corruption (there are backups kept in bookmarkbackups), Fx decided to start a new profile, localstore.rdf corruption (should be fixed, so I'd be interested if that's still happening)?

This problem has been around for absolutely ages, you'd think Mozilla would have fixed it by now.

What problem?
Despite a lot of moaning, no one's actually shown what the problem is ("my bookmarks have disappeared" could be one of a dozen issues, some of which have been fixed or will be fixed in releases that are still in testing), and it's hard to fix a bug you can't reproduce...

Seems to be - writing to a flat file can be a PITA, and as far as I know no one's really found a set of reliable steps that will make Firefox bin its bookmarks.

I'd expect the issue will disappear completely with Fx3, which uses an SQLite file to store bookmarks, history etc.
