So, anyone else playing this rather good aRPG ?

some videos incase you've never seen it working ;-

Now the awkward part, you need to obtain a korean verified account which is easy than it sounds. I bought one for $13 which came with a sort of guarantee if it got blocked.

VPN

Made a Mudfish (vpn) account bought 26gig of Traffic $3 and once setup went to the official Lost Ark website used the new account and downloaded the client.

OBTAIN THE GAME FILES

Dont use the client to download the game files it will take forever, instead head over to Lost Ark Discord and goto the download section and grab the 6 rar files or the torrent.

Create a folder 'LOST ARK' in the Smilegate directory Program Files(x86) > Smilegate > Games and extract the rar files (26gig) into it.

Start your VPN - start the 'Stove' game client and click Install and then wait... it can take a long time for it to sort out your files and update. You will know it's completed when the button to play turns blue!

ENGLISH STOVE CLIENT

You can use regedit the Stove client to display English by opening 'regedit' and locate the folder below...

---> HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Smilegate > STOVE

simply change the defaultLang to ----> en

then close regedit.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, the game so far is fantastic. Whether it comes to EU we don't know yet, but it would be a travesty if it didn't. The game is extremely polished and it should be with a development cost of over £100m+.

Very much want to play this but all the account sites are sold out atm! Will grab one soon as they are available. Did the same with BDO when it was only available in Korea. Hopefully someone is working on a language patch just like that game!

Doubt we will see a western release, if they do it will be years from now. This game looks insane.

Some good news, been reported on a few sites now....

7 years and 100 billion Won (~$88 million USD) later, Lost Ark finally entered Open Beta Testing in South Korea on November 7, 2018. Smilegate, the company behind Lost Ark, has announced that they are targeting 'more developed countries' such as North America and Europe for their next launch phase.

Usually China proves to be a more alluring next-step for Korean MMORPG developers, but the recent gaming approval freeze in China means that the world's biggest gaming market is currently off limits. To give a sense of China's importance to SmileGate, 80% of their total sales last year came from the Chinese version of their tactical shooter Crossfire.

China's loss is our gain. With these Chinese market closed to them, SmileGate has chosen instead to focus its attention on an English/International version of Lost Ark. Lostk Ark seems a good fit for the Western audience as the action-RPG oriented gameplay is well established here. Lost Ark will compete with other Korean titles like Mu Legend, but also with established action RPG franchises like Diablo 3 and Path of Exile. But unlike the latter two, Lost Ark boasts a persistent world and many more MMORPG features.

** There is a work in progress English patch for Korean beta out - testing with new char, info soon **

Steparu vid, looks very impressive and very difficult...

Reminds me of my old favourite - Tera. Great game until it becomes grindy post max lvl. Absolutely fantastic combat though. The whole Evolution phase of bosses combined with their AoE is just too similar.

Lost Ark looks interesting enough. I'll wait to see if it can do well enough to get picked up by a European distributor.

i've got it downloaded and installed but i dunno if i can be bothered with it to be honest, too much of a pain in the butt with vpn and re-verify stuff. i'd rather they just throw up an EU &/or US site so we can sign up, even if its to play on the Korean servers so we don't need a KSSN.

Been waiting for this since 2014/15 and great that a beta is finally on and I'm still hoping that someone in the west will pick it up to publish who won't turn it into a cash shop loot box like Devillian turned out to be.

There is an 'unofficial' (obviously) English patch out today, there's still too much Korean text but a lot of the UI and quest info is now legible.

Well the Korean version ran fine, it's just the ping was roughly 280-320ms which wasn't game breaking.

At least playing the Ruski version will help, plus I reckon English translations will be much easier and quicker... until we get our EU version :D

The Russian version is being moved to the international client MY.com on the 17th June

You will still need a vpn to play what will still essentially is the Ruski version but it's a step towards western release !
