Reformatted with vista 64 yesturday and now lost my rank.
i saved my 'Players' folder to a USB flash drive, installed COD4,started a new profile and then pasted my players folder into COD4 folder, but just starts up with rank 1 :(

any ideas?

Did you save your profile in XP by any chance, and if so are you sure you're pasting it in the right directory?

On Vista it should go in the following:

C:/Users/Appdata/Local/Virtualstore/Activision

it was done in vista 64,had to reinstall due to new mobo.i dont have the fodler 'activision' in virtual store.

I've made this mistake several times (enough to rage me vs CoD4 :o ). In Vista if you've got UAC on (as default) then your profile is located hidden in:

C:\Users\%YourUser%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\

If you've got UAC off then it puts the profile back into the progam files folder but I'm not sure if it copies the latest data if you switch between the two settings.

Make a new profile called ZeeBee (Or anything really). Then clag your folder into wherever it put it. Thats the easiest way.

I've just installed COD4 on my new Vista 64 machine.
I had my copied accross profiles folder but kept it in my docs, ran the game once closed then copied the profiles into C:/Program Files/Activision/COD Folder/Players/
my rank and everything worked straight away then
