Ok so when I search I can find the files, but have no idea where they are on the computer.

Why doesn't the search show you where the files are stored? I need to find them and copy them!

Thanks in advance for any help!

No, you cant drag and drop from the seearch box can you? Even so, there is loads on there not just one or a few files, I just searched for those to confirm they hadn't all gone, as it were.

I hope when I find one I will find them all... surely its easy isnt it?

Isn't there an obscure key / mouse click combination that allows you to open the containing folder in Finder? Found it, it's CMD-Click. However I also noticed if you leave the mouse pointer over the file a hover appears telling you the path.

I have just tried it with a song (first thing i could think of looking for) and dragged it over to desktop.

Perfect thanks guys.

While I am here, I now notice that my battery icon has a cross on it...why is this? It says no battery is present and nothing I do can stop it, and it does not run unless it is plugged into the mains.

I also have a CD stuck in the drive, nothing I seem to do can get it out, it tries t read it 4 times then gives up.

I found out about the hold the trackpad idea down until youhear a beep but I hold it down and I hear no beep and the CD remains stuck.... :(
