lost folders containing pictures

Hi, I have been asked to see if I can sort a laptop out for a mate in work, He said it would not let him past the password screen at windows logon, he managed to boot into safe mode then deltee the password in the users area in cp. After trying it again no joy, he then went into user area again in cp and deleted his user profile. and ran system restore. this sorted the problem in as much as he could log on. Now all his data is missing, he is more concerned about photos of his family that are gone. Before i try anything on it is there any way i can recovery the photos or will the system restore have over written the data.

Hmm, noticed that link isn't allowed here so altering post.

You can try and find a recovery program which should allocate the deleted files such as pictures for the OS you use regardless of whether the System Restore has deleted it or not.
