That wasn't the ending (although I agree the ending was rubbish).
Only the flash sideways was created by them, not the Island.
What was the island then?

Pretty much everything was answered IMO.
It's fine saying the ending was bad, but I honestly can't think of any other way they could have finished it.
Belmit said:There was so much potential, even up to the last episode, for Desmond being the only person aware of a dual timeline and controlling and utilising the shifts we saw in The Constant across timelines as well as through time. Ultimately the story would have been nearly identical to how it happened, gradually recruiting each person to help him with the rest, except they all get to live the lives they always wanted thanks to him.
But no, it was God's waiting room. Lame.

Ah that sounds good Belmit!
I was looking on Lostpedia as I couldn't remember what happened to Walt, and I come across this:

Wow, all this time and I never knew this existed.
How on earth did Hurley and Ben get to LA with the Dharma van?!

but they weren't. i'm surprised how hard people seem to find understanding simple things in lost, no wonder people think questions where unanswered when they think stuff like this.
an island in the ocean some where. was pretty clear it wasn't something they created, it was an island just as hawaii is an island. nothing else to it.
It's a 20 page thread started in 2010. You've got to assume it is full of spoilers three years after it finished.![]()
