Hi folks

Just recently upgraded my service from pipex 2mb to 8mb and I thought I'd change my good old router (was one of them valued no-brand adsl modem routers)

The old router lasted me for years and the reason for upgrade was because the old router could not keep up with the new 8mbps connection and only connecting at 5mbps. Also with my new laptop on the right side of my desk, there will be way too many cables laying around.

So there was me decided to go wireless, I have bought the Linksys WAG354G-UK wireless router based on some really good reviews for this product. However, the router came and lasted for less than 10 minutes. It was no biggie, bad luck I suppose and so I got it replaced and the 2nd one came. This time it lasted me for about a week, with hangs EVERYDAY with random disconnection here and there. The router was placed in my dad's office so everytime the router hangs I pretty much need to get up and go to his office then restart the router. Not to mention that it fails to connect to the internet unless i kept on plug/unplug the cables for it. (it was not the cable's problem though, however. instant connection with my old adsl router)

Eventually after about a week, the router died after 1 hang and now I am back onto my good old router again, with 5mbps connection.

There are few questions I'd like to ask you folks, hope that you could give me the answer:

1. why does router hang? I know that every router would pretty much hang once in awhile, what is the cause of this? could it has something to do with the cable instead of the router itself?

2. does any of you folks are heavy downloaders that uses stable and up-to-date adsl router? (of course, wireless preferred)

Now I am looking around for another replacement, but I fear that I'd go through all the trouble for that Linksys one I have purchased again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
