Lost in the AMD rebranding!

Like a few on here, I jumped on the MSI 2GB 7850OC deal for ~£90 in December 2013.

Since then, AMD have given cards "R9 2xx" model numbers. I wanted to look into how much an R9 equivalent would be, to see if doing a Crossfire setup was something to think about (and if it is possible), but I'm struggling to work out which R9 I should be looking at.

Any help from someone less confused, please? :)

Would you not be better off finding a second hand version of your card?

Not too clued up on X-Fire or SLI so apologies if i'm mistaken on this :)

As Jon said the 7850 was rebranded as R265. Not sure if you have access to MM? There are some 7850s on there for not a lot of money.

I had a feeling it was 265, but I'm so out of the loop and getting old/senile, many thanks!

It's just something to think over, my better half will "inherit" this q9300 system when I upgrade, Crossfiring in a second 7850OC equivalent might help prolong how this system copes over time.

The current 4GB DDR2 is tempremental at booting up (sometimes get the "3 beep" code) if I overclock the q9300, so I might get two packs of 2x2GB DDR3 to again prolong its longivity.

I wish the MM rules were different, I've been here 9 years, but I need to practically double my post count to get access!

I am sure the MM rules used to be 250 posts and 12 months membership. Looking at your posts per day stat (at a finger-blistering 0.16 :p) it looks like you probably met that criteria at some point when that was the case... Maybe message one of the MM mods: Burnsy2023, ThundyCat, Admiral Huddy, w3bbo, Maccy or stulid and ask nicely. I hear tea and biscuits go down well with this crowd :D

Definitely can't access this forum?: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=17
