I know stupid on my part but somehow i lost a mobo jumper. Is there anyway to do a bodgejob till i can get my hands on one? I do have a soldering iron and wire. It is a IP35 pro mobo.

aye, if you've got any spare hard drives, or CD drives (especially IDE ones) you can nick a jumper off them :)

Alternatively many motherboards have a few spare jumpers in a little bag somewhere in the box :)

The other option, depending on how long you've been into computers, and how long you hold onto stuff for is if you've got any pre plug and play cards, they'll usually have a few jumpers for IRQ and IO settings.

ISA IO cards are (were) great for that at the end of their life, the jumpers I removed from a few IO cards before dumping them lasted me for years as spares :) I think there were about 30 per card...Plug & Play takes all the fun* out of setting up a computer (it's no fun being able to assemble the computer and have it work with a hard drive first time, every time, and not having to spend hours setting dozens of little jumpers to get the soundcard to work with the network card, and then find the hard drive controllers no longer work...).

Jumpers are one of those things (along with spare screws of both common types) that it's always handy to have somewhere near the computer/tool box :)

*Please note, the value of fun may go down as well as up. Some non P&P IO cards may cause premature hair loss, high blood pressure, outbreaks of tourrettes and excessive amounts of time to set up.
