Hi guys,

Looked through every old game case and I am unable to find my disc 1 for the game. I don't want to buy the game again.

I heard you can add games on steam if you own the real one, but I see GTAIV isn't on the list but they do sell the game.

I don't have any friends with the PC version so can't "copy" it if that worked.
I have attemped NO CD's etc for my installed version but it won't work, plus I would need it to reinstall whenever in the future.

Should I resort to "purchasing it online through my local e-tailer for free" to get CD1? would that still allow me to play online/update the game using my legal cd key?

I guess I could contact rockstar, I have heard of other companies helping with game discs for postage/admin fee?

Arghh :(

Contact RockStar first and see what they say.

If you already have the game installed then i would recommend getting a crack (this is legal for you as you own the game).

If all fails, i don't see anything wrong with downloading from a torrent site - as stated above, you OWN the game already.

In the future, copy all your CD's to your PC so that if you do lose them, you can just burn another one (or mount).

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to crack a game or download it, regardless of whether you own a license or not. Also, I'm pretty sure that recommending using torrents and cracks is a bannable offense on here.

I'm unsure whether applying a crack is in fact illegal, it's a bit of a grey area. What i wouldn't recommend at all is downloading it from a torrent site. Those that have prosecuted people for using torrents in the past would not care if you already owned it; as torrents upload parts of the file to other people while you download it is considered distribution of copywrited material and therefore you are still as much at risk as someone who doesn't own the game.

Contact rockstar and see what they say.
