I think I've been playing too many MMOs and stuff like Simcity 4.

Fired up Doom 3 the other day and found that I just couldn't sit there and play it as it scared the carp out of me.

I used to play nothing but FPS games and was never bothered by things jumping out on me, so how the hell do I get my nerve back? I feel like a right big girle :(

if doom 3 scares you i dare you to play system shock 2 :p

Aye, i cant physically play SS2.. makes my heart-rate go through the roof..

I always remember the PCZone comment for it thought "Play it at night, with the lights off, on your own.. and see how hard you are."

Well people said FEAR scared the crap out of them but I completed it, not scary at all but fun yeah.

Doom 3 when I first played it had you tence all the way through.

For something more visceral play Condemned: Criminal Origins but for something truly disturbing play any of the Silent Hill games for the PC.

Play SH3 with some decent headphones because the game seems to make use of binaural audio technology in certain areas and can be eerily realistic at times. For example near the beginning of the game (in the mall) you enter this small room and the first time I did this I actually thought I heard some footsteps coming from above my actual room, I even paused the game to check!

Post on an interweb forum that you are to scared of Doom3 to play it and let the members rip the crap out of you for being a big Wooooooss :p
After complete humiliation at the hands of such experts you will then be forced to play the game through to finish and screenshot the end so that you can at least restore 1% of your pathetic manhood :p

GAYER :D

Now go and play it with headphones Full blast and with no lights on and if i hear you screaming i'll be round with my beating stick

PANCY :D

Yes it scared me when i played it, OK. Just leave it.

Dont worry mate, you are not alone. I bought fear, fired it up for 40 mins, exit and uninstalled.

You big girl!

Have to say I get scared to :(

It's best playing with somebody else then work your way onto playing by yourself. Helped me anyway.

only game i ever felt was scary was silent hill on the PS1, creeping around a school in the dark, hardly able to see in front of you with nothing but a lead pipe and a radio that gets static when a bad guy gets near.

Playing it at 2am in the dark on a 32" TV.

No new games have given me the same feeling!

I'm terrible at playing survival horror games :o.

I just can't do it, I remember on FEAR turning the sound off and closing my eyes going around a corner once.

Silent Hill was ace - made me jump but I could play back then :)

Actually, one of the scariest games I remember from bygone days was "Aliens" on the Amstrad CPC (not the US Edition). Mind you I was a nipper back then.

Anyhow, will get the other half to come sit with me or something so she suffers palpitations as well. :D

Glad to see I'm not alone in having trouble dealing with this - highly annoying though. Playing RTS, MMO and God games obviously turns you into a shandy drinking softie :)
