Lost my windows xp cd but...

I have lost my OEM XP home cd but my friend has an XP pro and an XP home retail disk.

So can I use one of these to reinstall XP along with my licence number?

no

was it a shop bought OEM cd, or say a Dell oem cd..

if it was shop bought, you need to 'borrow' an xp oem disc, pro & home retail discs won't work with an oem key



you can probably turn the xp retail disc into a home oem one.. ask on msfn.org forums

copy the cd to C:\XPCD

do the changes that they say there, then rebuild the disc using nlite
