I have a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on

Intel Core i7-2600k
ASUS P8Z68 Pro
16GB 4 X 4GB DIMM 240-PIN 1600mhz memory
AMD Radeon 380 Strix 4GB

Every single time the computer is turned off - not rebooted - the ethernet adapter is absent completely. I have to reinstall the driver each time to enable networking.

This has been happening before the clean install as well.

As soon as the driver install is run, all is ok until the computer is shut down.

Any ideas on how to prevent the uninstall or removal of the ethernet adapter?

Adapter is Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection (Driver 12.15.31.4)

Any help welcome

Maybe the security software identifying the driver as malware for some reason and removing it,any notifications in your security settings about it?

Ok, I have tried disabling Avast on the startup, I no longer use malware bytes on startup, so no services are blocking on startup from that.

Where / what in the event log should I be looking? Application / Security / Setup / System? which one please?

Have a quick look through them all.

Reboot and then check the events that are logged during the shutdown and startup. As you'll know exactly when you rebooted you won't have to trawl through too many entries.

Ok, under System, I get Source: e1cexpress

Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
The network driver has been stopped because the network adapter has been removed.

Then this is followed by:

Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
Network link is disconnected.

System BIOS and network drivers up to date?

if you Google '82579V The network driver has been stopped because the network adapter has been removed' you'll find other people with similar problems. If you're lucky you may find one of the many suggested fixes does some good.
