Hi,

Just finished building my first build today, all was going ok until I had to do a re-boot and on Windows starting it didn't connect to the network/internet?

The rooter is fine as I'm using it via my laptop on wireless.

Have changed the port on the router, but still nothing.

How without having connection to the web can I re-instal the driver?

The motherboard is a GA-X58A-UD3R and I looked on the DVD, but there is now option to install just the Realtec driver for the Network?

Anyone have any ideas what I can try?

download the driver on another machine and save it to a memory stick?

Is the network adapter appearing in device mananger as having an issue?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

At work at the moment so not able to check anything until later tonight, but late last night...

I Googled the problem and read a post where someone else was having the same problem, in the post they said that if you power down and unplug the power for a few minutes that on reboot it is back.

Tried it and I currently have the Network Adapter back

Now I just need to see if it happens again, and if it does if its Windows causing the problem or possibly a faulty board?

Any advice on what to check in Windows (Win 7 Pro 64 bit) or anything else would be very much welcomed.

I will run it tonight and see if it disappears after some time.

Things like this do niggle me, as they sometimes have a habbit of bitting you in the arse at a later date.

At this early stage is it worth me doing a fresh install? As only the OS on at the moment.

Cheers

I highly doubt there's any point in reinstalling at this stage. Are you running gigabit LAN? Sometimes dodgy patch cables can freak out the auto-negotiation to the point where instead of setting a slower speed it just gives up.

Well since doing that it hasn't happened again.

I ran the PC last night from 7 'till around midnight and touch wood no problems.

I suppose I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

Network is running at 100Mps.
