Bought an overclocked ultima 8800GTX sli with the 6600 oc to 3.0ghz, for some reason it.s decided to reset to 2.4ghz.

Any ideas where to start to get it back to 3.0ghz >>> striker extreme board!

never o'clocked before so im pretty much at a loss as to what to do!
called OC support and the pointed me here!

any help would be appreciated

thanks for any input in advance

Well if they sold you the PC as overclocked i reckon they should talk you through it themselves rather than pass the buck. That's just my opinion though, not based on any legal knowledge of your rights etc.
It's a pretty easy thing to do and imo both a rewarding and interesting skill to learn. It would be better being talked through it on the phone by someone who knows your exact bios settings rather than have to go on the more general advice you'll recieve from here.

Should they support me with this issue??? when I called the guy said #i would have to do it myself, dont see why though
I'd personally say yes as you've paid extra for an overclocked system. Not only for the added performance but also for the added support required to maintain that performance level if it were to ever fail.

As said above though. Go into the BIOS and have a look around. Not sure whether the ASUS boards are like my Gigabyte in that they retain the actual settings so they can be re-enabled.

Did you receive any paperwork to identify the settings the PC had for the overclock? I know that they send their overclocked bundles (cpu/mobo/ram) with a guide outlining the required settings.

Hope you get it sorted matey! :)

tbh, it'd be good for you to learn how to overclock yourself, especially as the 6600 you've got will more than likely go way past 3Ghz ;)

OCUK are out of line on this one. If he bought one of their pre-overclocked rigs it is their obligation to help him out. That's another mark against them. They are'nt doing too well recently!!

I had a smiliar problem recently but I just overclocked it myself with the aid of the helpful members on this forum :)

Its more fun doing it yourself but if you pay for it to be overclocked then the after sales support should be there. No buts

Technically we're breaking the rules in this thread as we're tarnishing OcUK's name lol :p.

From the FAQ:

OcUK will never allow these forums to be used by those who would seek to tarnish our name, no matter how justified they feel their circumstances are.

1st off Thanks for all the replys, It is appreciated :)

2nd we're Not exactly tarnishing, just trying to get a feel for if they should or should not be responsible! ;)

The guy I spoke too did sound like he was having a real bad day lol so it was his attitude that spawned the issue!!!

I will give them another call 1st, see if I cant get mr happy and helpfull and see what is said, and will report back on the matter!

Regards my Bios i have had a look and cant figure what the hell im supposed to do with it? I see the CPU multiplier and it is set to 9.

If I change this it will just re set back to 9! I've looked on the AI booster thingy and the multiplier is again set to 9 but the frequency used to be set up to around 325 or so if mem serves correctly! pre it resetting it self.

Problem I'm having is where in bios do I clock this damn CPU? its an extreme tweaker bios by pheonix BTW, and also when I get it to 3.0ghz from other overcocking means, the system freezes and I have to re boot!

Could this be an under voltage issue?
I notice that all the voltages are set to auto, but i'm also guessing that manually setting them is more reliable?

It will be difficult to recommend any definitive help as that should be OcUK's responsibility after selling a pre-overclocked system. I would hate to recommend something that might break your components (where would you stand with OcUK then?)

I will say this though, only overclock in BIOS.

The setting you will need to change are FSb to 333 (for 3 gig).
You may need to give more volts and also change CPU:RAM ratio - but those setting OcUK should tell you. In fact they should include a helpsheet or something with BIOS settings for exactly this issue IMO.

In the long run it is better to learn yourself and pick your own components rather than pay money for nothing for pre-overclocked systems or guaranteed chips.

Good luck.

Thanks, for the reply i'll get on to them again! and see what happens

Within my Bios I cannot get to any areas within it to change the FSB. so that as they say is that LOL

fingers crossed I get a walk through this time round, thanks for the help, i'll keep ya posted.

Bump ish!

If I run sisoft sandra and check out my Ram right... si soft says that the ram has been performance enhanced!!! or there is a green tick next to a sim description. so does this mean i still retain the overclock on my ram? how would I find this out?
i have 4 gig of OCZ ram. and it was, or is clocked to 1000mhz

found a site that explains my bios http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/asus_striker_extreme/5.html
good stuff so I'm starting to build up some info ready to deep fry my PC :-) in case Ocuk dont help lol

Heyup andybenn,
I’ve read a couple of reviews on Overclockers OC systems that have lost their overclock and have said a ten minute phone call it was all sorted for them. Give them another call mate.

Technically we're breaking the rules in this thread as we're tarnishing OcUK's name lol :p.

From the FAQ:

I think If they have done wrong, they should be named and shamed,, To be honnest I think the customer support is quite bad when it comes to returns, and whats with having to pay postage to get the item sent back Cos of this ive taken my custom elsewhere. These people arrange the faulty goods to be sent back to them, so you dont even have to go out of the house and dont get landed with the postage. I will prob ge banned,, but come on ocuk team pull your socks up, like your quick enought to take our money, but if something goes wrong its a right pain to get it sorted...

Cya guys, this will prob be my last post Im guessing, like the last time I got banned was cos my sig was too large in k.lol

Well I was having a bit of a joke with that comment but I think constructive criticism should be welcomed by any organisation regardless of size. Customer feedback can only improve a service which benefits them (more money) and us consumers (better service) :D

I have dealt with a few technical firms and OcUK has by far been the best so far. I will continue to use them until they let me down. I don't mind returns as long as they're dealt with effectively. I used to be a PCNextday customer and everytime I swapped out a product or sent something to be fixed they sent it back more broken.

You can tell I'm a management student...

Please do contact us again and we will be able to guide you through the settings. There should be a pre-overclocked profile saved in your BIOS, however if you need further guidance call the technical support line where we will be happy to help.
