Okay i'm in a state I am buying a new system; I have sold my current one...
Looking at a few key components and i'm stuck:

Phenom 9600 or Core Q6600?

ATi 3870 or Nvidia 8800GTS(G92)

Also I am going for 4gb ram with vista 64bit so do i go for 800mhz or 1066+ when it come to ram?

HELP!

q6600 + 8800gts + 800mhz of ddrII

q6600 - because it's faster than the phenom and overclocks super far, also has tons more cache.

8800gts - Because its just way better

800mhz - because most of the sets of these will overclock to 1000mhz if you want, but personally i think 800mhz is fine

I want to get this chip sooo much but I keep thinking... hmm AM2 looks like a nice platform...god knows why!

Also I want to take the Q6600 to 3ghz+ would i need faster memory then?

Seriously go with the q6600! Your throwing money away buying the phenom! :p I reckon if you buy a nice cooler (tuniq tower maybe) to go with it you could take it to 3.4 with 800mhz memory. As long as you get a good overclocking mb

For the price of a new 512MB GTS, spend that little more and get one of the reduced price GTX's.

Taking a 6600 to 3GHz is a drop in the ocean, mine will run at 3.6GHz on the stock cooler.

Phenom is just not worth the cash, has bugs, its just not a high end chip yet.

£165 for a motherboard! Christ I only spent that much back in the day of P4's to get a decent Intel board!
