Doesn't run very fast on my 8800GTX! Admittedly I wanted 1920x1200 out of it but 7fps for a £400 graphics card seems a bit shonky.

Is this just early software, dodgy drivers or what? Is there other directx 10 software out there yet?

cheers

I think the demo is a very bad port over from the XBOX 360 and my guess is that its hardly been optimized for us PC users, i mean it still had the 360 control interface in the options and in game, pure laziness.

ah that too :p ports these days tend to be rather half-assed.

The demo was rushed because they just wanted to get something out that actually uses DX10. I'm sure the finished port will have much better optimisation, but it's still just a console port. Crysis will be a far better example of DX10, and should run fine on a GTX.

Yeah another shoddy port by all accounts. :(

I don't think so tbh, I think it's one of the better ports of late, talking from a DX9 point of view the game runs perfect on my system @ 1920x1200 maxed out, I get around 45fps which is more than fine considering the res, I think you have to judge this game in DX9 to be fair, not DX10.

dx9 version works splendid for me, no lag or anything on max settings...try turning HDR to medium, gives me a large fps boost

The game looks great in both DirectX 9 and 10, but we couldn't tell much of a difference between the two versions. Shadows looked slightly better in DirectX 10, but that's only because we could change the shadows setting to high, whereas in DirectX 9 we could only use the medium setting. After failing to see any major graphical differences between the two versions, we asked Capcom about what makes the DirectX 10 version special.
A Capcom representative told us that the DirectX 10 improvements primarily enhanced performance by up to "10 to 20 percent" through the use of "geometry shaders, depth resolve, and stream output." That means that the Lost Planet demo is only using DirectX 10 to increase performance, not to produce advanced graphics effects.

they are missing a huge audience though. I have a dx9 card in vista. The dx9 version wont play cause it complains dx10 is there not 9. And ofcourse the dx10 I cant play without the card. So it cant be played in vista without a dx10 card.

Running DX9 works fine for me also, even on my ageing system it can manage 20fps in the heavy snow with everything turned up.

Some parts do seem a bit rush though, such as the menus still have "Press B to go back" and the control settings menu has a photo of the Xbox 360 controller in the background :/

Good game though imo, lots of potential

Funnliy enough the lost planet demo I downloaded on steam doesnt work with my old x800 xl, all I get is an error to do with the pixel shader.....

might have to upgrade soon....

PK!

I'm running the DX9 version fine under Vista on my 2 X1900's.
