Just played the demo on Steam (day off so trying some games out), and i took quite a liking to it. I've taken some consideration whether to purchase it or not, so i checked out the Steam reviews from IGN and the like, they say go for the Xbox 360 version.

So, has anyone played this game on both or seen it being played for both (Not on Youtube, more to the point of in person) and can tell me their recommendation?

Thanks.

Loved it on the 360, completed the single player twice and played loads of multiplayer with a few mates, think I got to level 40~.

Well worth atleast a rent on the 360.

Can't wait for 2!

You need to buy the Extreme Colonies Edition as that includes Free cross platform play vs X360 players as well as multicore CPU & GPU support which scales to as many cores as you can throw at it. This version also has extra MP content & weapons/skins the std version does not have & additional gameplay viewpoint modes. You can only buy it at retail there are no digital download versions available of the Colonies edition.

Its a great game and because of the 360 cross platform play always plenty of global players on & the MP is a lot of fun. SP as well is pretty good the gfx even now are still pretty good & it runs well on most hardware.

Very underated game but one of Capcom Japan's best efforts to date on the PC :D

+1

Here are some screenshots from the Colonies Edition :D (I have inf weapons BTW as my reward for getting 100% they give you those but even then the game is still a major challenge as inf weapons = saves disabled).

Lost Planet2 is not coming out until Oct/Nov this year and this game will keep you busy until then if you strive to get 100% on it like I did. The MP & SP modes are challenging and not easy at all. Terrific game though & very good value for money.

Have it on PC. Uninstalled after 20 minutes or so. Terrible console port, in my opinion. Controls are all over the place, in game menus are difficult to use, mouse speed is slow (cant remember if you could change it or not). Not my thing i'm afraid.

I have the standard edition which I brought off Steam for £3.49(i think) and never had a problem with it. I think its a nice console port, controls were fine and looks great when I went crossfire with my 4870 and maxed out all the settings in dx10 mode.

I hated the 'extreme cold' mechanic - it meant you had to keep moving and couldn't stop to enjoy the graphics :p

Also forced you into a certain style of play, which I didn't really like.

Loved the game at release, was unaware of the colonies edition and for £8.50 off of amazon will deffo pick this up.

Its designed for the X360 gamepad thats why you can tweak all settings in the menus anyway :)

Terrible console port your joking surely :( its one of the very best if not the best & also has additional features like full multicore GPU & CPU support via Capcom's proprietary MT Framework 1.5 game engine. AFAIK its the only current PC game engine which will let you use all your CPU & GPU cores ;)

Absolutely loved the game, on both PC and 360 (owned both original and colonies). Game looks absolutely stunning on a PC. Only negatives i have was the mouse aim (default sensitivity really low, can change in the ini on the original, or in the menus on colonies, i found 5 to be the sweet spot) and how it was tied to the frame rate (really awkward sometimes, sometimes trying to get those precision shots in was a pain), 360 buttons were a bit lame when they came up but not major.

I liked it so much I've played through it twice.

Despite being a port it runs really well and looks good too.

And it's nice to have a different setting than the usual brown mush of most shooters. :)

i cant get the game to run through Steam atm :(....not happy

used to work too

Edit - all working now must have been part of the steam update :) - just ran the benchmark maxxed everything on DX10 mode with VSync on

Snow - 60fps on outside bits and 45-50 inside the cave :).....IM LAUGHIN!
