Got it today, the Colonies version is definitley the one, although the cutscenes are rather laggy, 8fps during the cutscenes, but 50-70fps whilst playing the game...

Yeah the retail Colonies Edition is the best one to go for. There is still an active online community for this game, plus the fact that a lot of Xbox 360 players still play this game. Still a sizable chunk of decent Japanese players as well.

Some of the cutscenes slowdown or gets the audio out of sync for me as well, but I guess it must be to do with V-Sync settings or something else.

But yeah, definately one and was the first of Capcom's own decent conversions to the PC platform within recent years, the others being Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, and hopefully soon, Lost Planet 2.

Speaking of Lost Planet 2, I'm not sure whether to wait until much later where they may re-release another "Colonies" style edition because this is Capcom afterall. Never trust the first release of a new game. :p

Typed it in google and Nvidia users are having problems too.

Edit: Found the problem, cutscenes appear to hate my monitor resolution.

What's your monitor resolution ???? as I can get very smooth cutscenes with a lowly GTX260-216 or even an 8600GTS !!!!

1920 x 1080, it's just the cutscenes so i'm not fussed with it. I just found it odd that i can play games like Crysis, Far Cry 2 etc on the highest detail and i get 8fps on cutscenes in this game, yet i can still play it with 50-70fps when the cutscenes are gone.

Decent enough game but Jap'ism's such as the story and enemies begins to grate after a while.

I found the controls fine and the graphics were plenty good. Gameplay becomes very repetitive very quickly however imo

Worth picking up on the cheap if ya can.

Make sure the game is running at the correct refresh rate as in the menus you will see it well hidden but it changes the refresh rate based on your resolution until you manually override it. Change it to 59 as it most probably gone to 60 or 59.9 should make a difference.

Or just find the config.ini for the game in your appdata folder on Vista and edit it there to see if it helps. Devil May Cry4 & Lost Planet both have a strange quirk where the game tries to force a lower refresh rate & locks it based on resolution so you have to manually intervene!

Currently playing extreme version on DVD but forced to participate in Steam beta in order to get it to run, next time I played Steam decided to update itself so I have to select beta trial again to get the game to load.

A few sound problems & annoying lack of selection for headphones in Audio so it has to be preset in windows on my system otherwise all sounds play except voices. All sounds play correctly with speakers, OF dragon rising is another game with the same headphone sound missing problem.
