Lost set of keys

I used to think that, until a group from Manchester arrived in two mini busses last year and cleared my village out (fortunately my house is always secure as I used to live in cities/towns).
 
If you have separate car + 'the rest' key rings, will you leave 'the rest' in the car when leaving car for a few hours ?

My car was towed once, and repetition of that, plus the idea that someone could break in and take the keys ( + material with address ),
means I never leave door keys in car.
