hi lately i have been getting an issue where mostly at post when the pc has been off for a while the screen looses signal and gfx card would spin up to 100%, there is still things going on though as my external speakers still get sound, and motherboard and green psu light is still on. after a 2nd boot the p c will be fine for like 7 hours almost on the dot then suddenly go off again, doesn't matter if im idling on desktop or playing a game. so what do you reckon psu or gfx card? i guess sound out the speakers would rule out the mobo or make it unlikely? is there any way i can test each 1 without buying a cheap gfx card? my psu is a coolermaster m850. oh yeah i have since reset my oc in the sig, that didn't help!

thanks

when it doesnt work do you get any small red leds on back of gfx card staying on? if so they should have a code next to them, eg D601, which will help you diagnose

doesn't look like there's any lights on my gfx card.

speedfan is saying my +12v rail is quite low at 11.4v so might be lower in reality as its a software reading? 11.4 is only just in spec.

any reason why i cant put the psu in an old packard bell system with core 2 duo to test, original psu is some generic 230watt 1. looks like it should fit.

I have something similar with an oldish 939 socket system, it seems to be one stick of ram that it doesnt like so check your ram........ Lenny

hmm you had the exact same issue and it was ram? i kinda dismissed ram because i thought ram usually produces bsods. or just generqally freezes.
