Lost steam details

I'm trying to install Half Life 2 and all it sundries onto my new PC. Now I haven't played this for a while so I installed and updated steam. Now I am 99% sure I know what my password is as I have used the same one or two for years but steam will not let me log in. I tried the "lost password" routine they have and got the verification code and secret word answers. When I put these in, it thinks about it for a while and then says, Sorry steam currently cannot process your request. Please try later. It has been saying this for some time. I can't see any other way of contacting them as every link on their contact us pages just ask me for my username and password!
Any idea how I can sort this?

Steam support = Different name and password, you have to register for it.

You need to take a picture of 1 of the CD keys of a game which is on your account, and when you make the ticket attach the picture.

Sign upto Steam forums and open a ticket - https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php

The login on the forums is sperate to your steam client login. It does take about 3-5 working days I think to get a reply though.
