Hello, It has been about 2 years since I built my PC and I have kinda lost touch with were everything is at the moment!

Am running a design consultancy and need a new comp. Got screen, mouse and all that jazz but need a new case/box of bits.

Will be using...

All CS2 stuff
All ex Macromedia
Video Editing (not hd - yet!)
Got XP corporate pro (change)?
Moving large files quickly (strip and mirror?)
All 3 of us in the office use a drive on my machine for all work files (300g+)
Will be getting 30inch lcd in 10 months (dual cards?)
I want fast ram (how much do I need - always loads open)
AMD or Intel (always went with AMD as cheaper - don't know anymore!)

I can build it, but need to know if this is the best option to get the most for power for my money.

£1000 to spend

Thankyou for your help

then add another 2GB RAM later.

I agree with the above spec, but I reckon if you're not going to be playing games, then to be honest an 8800GTS will be wasted, perhaps get a x1950Pro as they are the best value for money, great cards, and will be able to handle your monitor at the resolution intended...when you get it :)

The E6600 will be brilliant for video editing / multiple application (4mb cache and dual core) As stated 2GB RAM will be great, and you could always add some more later on if you had the money or simply felt like it :)

Thanks guys, do I need vista?

Not strictly, but it's bloody nice, and you'll have the machine to use it. If downgrading anything, make it the graphics card, and go with the 1950 PRO as suggested above. :)
