A bit of advice if possible on something that is really weird.
Basically yesterday I had to turn off everything at the mains, which meant my router and modem both went off. Previous to that my wireless internet access had worked fine, since then... not at all.
Base Info:
Virgin Media Modem (10mb)
Zyxel NBG-318S Router
1 x Vista Home Laptop, 1 x XP Netbook, 1 x Ipod Touch, 1 x PS3
Onto the problem, basically the router gets power, acknowledges that there is a internet connection from the modem and also sends out a wireless signal. The problem then starts, the Vista Laptop (lets use this as the base as its the main used item) can connect to the router but is only get 'local access only' - so I can go into the router settings, but dont get any internet access.
Ive also checked a wired connnection from the router to the laptop and still the same, just a local access message. I then chekced direct from the modem to the laptop and all is fine, which is what im doing now.
For info the Ipod and XP laptop also can see the router as a wireless access point and get excellent signals, but no internet access at all.
Things ive tried include; re installing the wireless card on the Vista laptop, resetting the modem to factory settings, removing all wireless security, diabling IPV6 (something id seen suggested online), force setting my DNS servers to the google 8.8.8.8 suggestion... nothing has worked as yet.
Now im thinking its something to do with the router; but to try and rule that out I have borrowed another router and some brief tests on that (ill do more) shows the same problem...
Some items that might help diagnose the issue - when using Windows Network Diagnostics it gives the following error : There may be a problem with your Domain Name Servers (DNS) configuration.
Now at the minute it should pick it up by default as i let the router do that (as I did before the problem) the only time I changed them was when someone said put the google ones in on your wireless settings...
Ive also run ipconfig/all - as follows:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]
