Lost WoW character?

My computer died recently and I had to format everything (no backups either..)

I have reinstalled WoW but is it possible to get my old characters back? I thought if I just logged into my account they would be there, but I can't seem to find them.. The girlfriend is going to be in tears if she has lost hers

seems you might have had your account hacked somehow you will have too contact blizzard and explain what has happened.

More than likely a keylogger. A recent pain. Watch what you click.

Contact Blizzard, either through the poor GM's, or via e-mail. They'll hopefully restore missing characters but they'll be more nekkid than a page 3 girl where you'll promptly get asked if you want to buy your gear back, with the more than likely missing gold for their "value".

As was said, sounds like you might just have logged into the wrong server, unless by some weird coincidence you got hacked when your PC was down.

If your character was simply deleted then you can just page a GM on your server and they will restore it with full gear etc. However, if you were hacked then the hacker probably destroyed all of your gear before they deleted the character in which case you may have to raise a certain amount of money before the GMs will restore your gear.

I very much doubt that the characters were deleted because your account was inactive. I've got characters I've not played in a year on mine.
Your game is not saved on your computer, it's saved on the Blizzard systems, which means if you're on the right server, someone else has wiped everything.

None of the realms my characters are on are back online yet,

Not at 1:40 last night there wasn't.

Was patch day, so, maybe they went down a bit earlier, but I don't know as TDU broke my WoW addiction.

Um, yes it was. Extended maintenance today was from 2am cet, which is 1am gmt.

Pff, i could see my characters... have been able to for the last 2 weeks, shame they are all naked..

Damn keyloggers, dont even know where i got it from either.

Blizzard just keep saying "Few more days"

WoW always gets me into arguements, had a nice 4 page flame war on the Draenor O-board the other week. All because someone decided to attack me over a joke.
