Lotro cant find Laurelin

Hello chaps, I have just reinstalled lotro, I had a character on the laurelin server but now I cant find laurelin in the server list.

Obviously I would like to continue playing as my character on laurelin, whats happened to laurelin?

Sure you havent got the US client?

Got Brandywine, Firefoot and bullroarer listed? If so, then you have the US client.

If you had waited a few weeks you wouldn't have an issue, all the EU servers are going state side. Not that this helps you at all

Bugger, I've just spent the last four hours downloading this and on 90% I see this thread, realising I too have gone for the US client! ._.

Surely there can't be too much of a difference? I'm only speaking as a WoW player, but isn't going from EU to US just a matter of chanching a text file to point to a different url? I mean, if they are both running the same patch of the game, then the data is hardly going to be different, is it?

It’s all the localised languages, different store, different company running it etc, but from June 1st everyone will have the same client.
But yes your right it’s probably not that much difference between the 2, shame its 11gig download iirc

Nah...if we want to talk high ping in MMOs, think back to the days of UO where not only did I play on US servers, but it was on dialup. So the ping times were outrageous.

Ah, that's somewhat more complex then.

How does the download happen, exactly? Is it a patcher which simply checks the files you have, and downloads missing ones? If so, maybe you could direct the EU client to install to the same folder as the US client, and it'll notice most of the files are the same, and just download the altered ones?
