LOTRO - Good, busy server?

At the end of the day, go with Laurelin and you're more than welcome to join the OcUK kinship. /tell Amdeal, Feliz or Chlothalion for an invite. We're usually on-line during most evenings.

I've played on Snowborne, Gilrain (briefly) and Laurelin and have to say that the latter is by far the best server (for me). Yes, there are self appointed rule makers but in my opinion this enhances the overall feel of the world you're playing in. From experience, the only people that have a problem with these players are ones who go out of their way to troll RP'ers. You get the occasional rubbish in OOC chat but I've never seen anything offensive, generally just someone being an idiot and being told to shut up for it.

As a non rp'er, I've found those who do RP to be very respectful of those not wanting to. I've grouped with several RP players and not had one problem, in fact they've been in more than one instance better players of the game than those who don't RP. The in game events organised by the community also help to make the server that bit more special.

As for your mum, Chuck Norris jokes and general abuse... can't say I've experienced that to any great extent on any LoTRO server (not EU ones anyway), and especially not on Gilrain.

I also don't think the LoTRO community is so much superior to any other MMO that I've played either, it just appears that many people seem subscribe to that notion..

I have certainly experienced such things on Snowbourne, I havent tried Gilrain, nor am I ever likely to.

I actually do think that the LOTRO community is superior to many other MMOs, its definitely got a better community than I have experienced on about a dozen other MMOs that I have played in the last 15 years. (I think the original Daoc community was slightly better and the original UO Catskills community was better, EQ2 also had a comparable community and the very early days of AC1 community was right up there). The fact that by your own admission you havent experienced your mum, chuck norris and abuse on "any LOTRO server" is evidence in itself that the community is better than some MMOs.

It all basically boils down to : "Come join our server, it's the best!"

The difference is that the Laurelin people are trying to get you to do it by reasoned argument, the Gilrain people are doing it by calling people liars :p

Actually no, I rather wish people would stop coming to Gilrain I preferred it as the quiet more closely knit server that it was, and I think that is a lament shared by many on the server.. oh and for the record I haven't called anyone a liar!
