LOTRO Trial!

I can't see a config file in my directory, any chance you could be a bit more specific please?

All's I can see is TurbineInvoker.exe.config and TurbineLauncher.exe.config

Theres a config file in your documents folder, cant remember the exact path and I'm at work at the moment. Another good tweak in there though is to edit the config file and change the AllowFakeFullScreen option to False , I used to get quite a bit of crashing when I first started LOTRO and this fixed it.

Edit - I didn't change any settings and it seems to have fixed. Don't think it'll last long though! And I'll have a look cheers.

If you want to trial lotro i suggest you sign up to fileplanet and grab yourself a beta key for the enedwaith & f2p beta that is currently ongoing.

F2P launches this fall - likely to coincide with the fall festival and will give you the opportunity to play for free to a point - i don't want to break NDA and disclose any more but will just say that the starter area's and low levelling has been improved and the game will benefit on the whole from the F2P model.

As for the hitching problem, there is no definitive answer to lotros long standing problem with hitching. There are a number of things you can try though which are detailed here

The hitching issue is very well known, although the devs have never actually acknowledged it. I've had it with both ati and nvidia cards. It's like a brief jolt every ten feet or so when you're running. I've learned to ignore it, but it can get very annoying once you start to fixate on it.

No idea why some people get it and others don't. Forcing the game to use a single cpu helps, but doesn't eliminate it altogether.

The OcUK guild is a bit dead in the water at the moment, it started off with good intentions but all the healthy people left when the sun started shining and it was pretty much me and Feliz for a fortnight or more. I haven't logged in myself in a week or so, But I've got a lifetime sub so I'll probably get back into it at some point.

For a solo class, I'd say you're better off with a warden than a guardian, as they're tanks that can heal themselves. You might need one or more of the expansions though, I'm not sure. Personally, I went with the runekeeper - unleashing an arse-kicking lightning combo and finishing off that giant bear with a back-hand to the face is just priceless. The crafting system is also pretty awesome, but base your vocation on what crafting guild you want to join.

Final note about the RP Laurelin server - there's an awful lot of RPers about, you'll see them slowly waling their horses around Rivendell, or dating by the river outside Bree or even staging music concerts from the various podiums dotted around. There's also a lot of poeple who don't RP but just like the community better, and you don't have to RP at all if you don't want to. The only exception is naming - you probably can't be TDenic, but you'd get away with something like Teedenic. Toneh's missus fell foul of that, and oh, how we laughed! Well, I laughed.

Sorry QBank, but it was funny :D

ill be back with lotro ocuk guild once i can walk up stairs again :) bloody knee operation!
i hope that when i come back i have a lot of offline - xp recovery to get :) - lifetime also

It's probably best to wait for when LOTRO goes free to play, about 2 months ago when I tried the trial the world seemed very empty, I saw only a couple of players between lvl 1 and 11. Apart from that the game felt just like any other mmorpg.

That's because you're confined to one area called Archet i think.

Not had the hitching problem since i upgraded but it does still exist for a large percentage of lotro players unfortunately, it helps to have a fast hdd or ssd as this will eliminate long seek times when loading in textures.
