Lots of different BSOD's

Over the last couple of months I have a multitude of BSOD'd that have become a lot more frequent.

The latest has been DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER, but I have had many Kernal related errors.

My instinct tells me that as it has become more frequent it could be a memory module slowly dying?

Have tried a fresh install and it didn't seem to do anything, however im not sure if it has kept original graphics card drivers.

system is:
Windows 8.1
Gigabyte z97x ud5h bk
GTX 970
i7 4790k
16gb corsair vengeance memory

All watercooled and running cool temps, not overclocked at present.

Not sure what to try as I have had about 10 different BSOD's :S

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Just had: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD

I have enabled verifier and this BSOD came up as soon as it restarted.

irq not less or equal is usually memory or memory controller voltage related

might need more memory controller voltage with 16gb of ram,not sure what its labelled as though on gigabyte z97
 
Thank you very much for your quick reply. The system has been running well for over 6 months, with no BIOS alterations. I have run the built in mem test with no problems.
 
GB usually has IMC for memory controller voltage - you usually needs to adjust VTT and IMC on GB boards to get the desired effect though.
 
Sorry, I know basics, but that has gone over my head. How do I know what to adjust / check VTT / IMC should be set to?

Grrr. This is driving me crazy now.

I'm not overly familiar with the Z97 - IIRC you might only get access to those settings in classic mode if your using the default BIOS settings.

Also just received:

SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION

If i try updating bios or jumpering cmos to see if any silly settings have been applied by accident. Maybe remove 2 of the memory modules?

Before doing anything else I'd try running memtest.

Then try removing modules to see if its the load on the memory controller - can also swap them around to see if you can eliminate the issue to a specific module.
 
Ran enhanced memtest and it came up with a detected problem. It didnt on the basic test. Removed modules 2 and 4. Tested again and still a problem detected. Swapped modules and put them in slots 2 and 4 and no issues.

Fingers crossed it hasnt BSOD'd as of yet. I can survive with 8GB of ram so will just see how things go. Will give it a few days and swap the modules and keep slots the same to see if it is definately the modules that are at fault.
