I wouldn't call a 10 minute stress test definative proof that it's stable. I have had cpu's fail stress tests after 12 hours before and one that can pass a stress test can still fail when gaming or other tasks.

Now try running cinebench R15 a few times in succession :).
I used the 9900K stable-ish at 5ghz but an occasional freeze so just returned it back to stock. For my uses it's not worth the hassle/time spent on it.

I got my overclock with cinebench. Currently @ HT on, all cores 5.1ghz 1.2v around 70c ( odd spike at 73c ) with avx offset of -1 (it wont encode at 5.1 stable and i dont want to give it more voltage atm). Z370 extreme4 vcore offset -60... This board runs this 9900k better and cooler than my 8700k lol? VRMs were hitting 80c with the 8700k @ 5ghz, they barely reach 60c now. Been encoding 8hrs straight now aswell as normal computer use + media server. Absolute beast of a chip and probably the best silicone ive seen..

If you have good cooling and never delid your 8700k then it's very possible a 9900k would run cooler than your 8700k did.
That's my situation as well. I have my 8700k under a 360mm AIO and it hits 92c - not delidded. 9900k overclocked temps are lower than this because it has better heat transfer than the 8700k

Just for comparison if you dont mind can you run the CPU-Z bench and post the single threaded score? Much appreciated.

cinebench is pretty easy to not crash, its nothing as a stress tester ;)

That would be the best 9900k ever made if it was truly stable at 1.168v at 5ghz ;)

I think standards for stability have dropped for the race to the lowest vcore in cine bench and a 30 min run of real bench.
Stable has become "stable enough for me" backed up with the point that longer stress tested systems including prime can also have instability.

I leave my pc on 24/7 and my only stress is gaming.
I can pass many cinebench runs and pass 1hr real bench at low vcore. However, over the next few weeks I'll pick up a few WHEA. To get rid of these completely and have a system that I can run for weeks without a hardware error or the odd battlefield v crash, takes my vcore from 1.23 all the way up to 1.32 @5.2ghz.
Prime avx has gotten a reputation from many as being a power virus. However, this has gotten me much nearer to stable than the real bench cinebench recommendations much quicker.

I couldn't agree more! 3000% Hci & 20-30 runs of IBT @ Maximum (All RAM) should be the standard. If you can pass that, you're stable.
