Quick question with hopefully a simple answer...

Am running a syndicate in work for the Euromillions and have tickets that cover last nights draw and also Friday's.

We had a couple of winning lines last night (nothing exciting so no begging replies please :D:D)

Am I able to get the winnings from the lines so we can put the money back on as LD's and still keep the tickets??

If the tickets still have draws left on them then yes you can. In fact I think you can get the ticket back whatever the scenario, the news agent just chucks it for your convenience.

The Lotto people aren't dumb, it's not like they make vendors chuck them to stop people claiming twice.

It is just that when I have claimed other prizes, they take the 'you have won' wee slip that pops out and staple it to the ticket and put that in the till.....obviously do not wan that to happen as these tickets are the ones that are going to win the jackpot on Friday (well, one of them....maybe)

I've never seen this is any of people local shops, they just scrunch it up and chuck it in the bin.

I suspect where you go is run by one of those types who loves administration for administration's sake. Each ticket has a unique ID and this ID ties back to Lotto's database which stores your numbers, the shop you bought it from, when you bought it and if it's been claimed. As soon as the newsagent runs it through the machine everything is done. Lotto know you've claimed, and they know to put that money in the shop keeper's account.

Doing it all online makes running a syndicate a whole lot easier

Thought of that, but as I have an account already was not an option.....plus, I leave here on Friday so this will be the last draw to be entered so no point going through the whole setting up a separate account.. good idea though. If I do end up running another one, will probably set up a separate account, though not sure how it would work for paying with the the same card registered to two different accounts

Have seen this happen in both my local corner shop and also two different Tesco stores. Also seen it happen both up here in Aberdeen and down in Plymouth, so not a local idiosyncrasy either.

Am waiting for the app to come out where you can just scan the code on the ticket to check as opposed to having to type the numbers in......

The retailer has to keep the winning ticket along with the receipt the machine prints out. The retailer pays Camelot all its lotto takings, minus its commission and any prizes paid out. They keep winning tickets and prizes in case of any disspute over prize money repaid to the retailer. After that the y are destroyed by the retailer. We used to burn ours.

If a ticket still has draws remaining the machine prints a new replacement ticket.

Cheers for the info Meatloaf......off to Tesco later so will get them sorted

Meatloaf is right, I used to cash Lotto tickets at work so know. Anything under the value of £500 is taken from the stores float (own cash basically) in exchange for the ticket (or receipt stub), and without either of these, the store cannot claim back its money from Camelot.

Obviously if your ticket still has numbers, the scanner takes this into account and produces a "temporary" winning ticket that the store can send back in lieu of the actual ticket.

Make sense?

My parents left me when I was young, I was left to look after my little sister who is 6 now. She is in hospital and she needs an operation that costs £60,000.. I feel so sad I can not afford it.
