developed a loud clicking noise from rear wheel area, can hear it when pulling away and when pushing it in gear with clutch out till it rebounds

like something is under tension, also hear it click/knock sound when tightening the rear axle nut up

any idea's? think its a wheel bearing? they are fairly recent aswell, can feel any notchyness in them or any play :(

its like a creaking sound, chain and sprockets are new,i did oil the chain and it made it less loud but its still there

yh I did all three, could be one failing though or I culd have damaged one installing it but its really annoying

if I hold the front brake on and let the clutch out a little it will creak as the rear suspension/back end rises, but its from the back wheel/hub area,if I bounce the rear suspension theres no noise

also does the clicking if I push the bike backwards

Yh,it knocks as I do up the axle nut, like something's under tension,I might just put new bearings in and take it from there

that's when you first hear the click sound as you tighten the axle nut,it clunks as you turn the nut,

ill have to get it up on the stand, its a pain balancing the spacers/wheel/axle bolt aswell when your on your own

I dont think its the chain ive drowned it in oil

New wheel bearings arrived today,it doesn't seem as loud now but you can still hear it,I'll stick new bearings in and hope that cures it

They are sealed, when I took my bike to have two punctures fixed I remember him fully immersing the wheel in a barrel of water,it could be that but if they already had grease in them I can't see how it would affect it

Gotta finish tiling my bathroom first n I'll put em in

you mean the spacer tube inbetween? yh it has a tiny ridge both ends so it wont go too far

I found what it was though

 dryer than Ghandi's flipflop, they were only three months old aswell and was stiff to rotate, yet when it was in the wheel it would turn ok,allsballs bearings, but only one was dried out so I just changed that

out of curiosity I carefully prised out the seal and this is on a brand new bearing, hardly and grease at all

so packed both of them full of grease and popped the seals back in

bottom one is one ive greased up

so note to self, dont let handfisted mechanics emerse your wheel in tubs of water, and when you get new bearings pop off the seal and pack them with grease as the japs must be on a grease ration

tightened the wheel axle nut up and no more graunching,so looks promising, wont be able to tell till tomorrow when I pop out on it

Yh I got some koyo now,but still surprised how little grease they put in them when new

The top bearing is the koyo,I packed it with grease aswell

one of the koyo bearings decided to eat itself today, changed it with a spare, other one was fine

so it lasted 5 days, terrible luck with bearings lately
