Loud fans, can't trace it to a certain fan.

Hi, so, here is my rig:

Case TW00193 Coolermaster MasterBox MB530P
Motherboard MB00311 Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus Wifi
Power Supply PS00102 Corsair 750W TX750M 80+ Gold
CPU CP00275 AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
CPU Fan beQuiet! Dark Rock Slim CPU Cooler - 120 mm
Graphics card GC00150 Geforce RTX 2080Ti 11Gb

The beQuiet was just added yesterday after my effort to reduce noise level. However, it had no effect at all, as if it had never been the CPU or so.

Honestly, I can't tell where the loud fan comes from.

Sitting diagonally from my PC, my ears at least 2 ft. 9in. (~84 cm) from the top of the case, the noise level reaches on avg. 41.8 db (measured with my phone, no expert here).

Should this level be expected from that config?

I tried:
1) playing about with SpeedFan but a bit reluctant to leave permanent config since I am no expert and no real success anyway.
2) BIOS Silent set-up for the Dark Rock Slim (decreased from full speed 1500 RPM to 600-700 RPM)
3) physically gently pushing one finger in the center of most fans without being able to understand where the sound comes from.

I think it is sourced from the bottom side of the case, either the PSU or the 2080...any ideas?

Yes, home screen, 30 s from first start up of the day, already 41 db at the position I described above.

Why does it feel as if it came from the bottom of the case? Where the PSU and the 2080 are placed?

What should be an admissible noise level? I find +40 dB irritating and intrusive, but then again, I had never had a good gaming rig so I am not sure this is normal

Personal preference tbh. I've been round friends houses and their rig is blowing a gale and they don't care. Personally I tuck my rig under the desk and expect not to hear it when idle, and not hear it over a game when gaming.

My standard practice:
- Get a basic tower cooler instead of the stock cooler
- Go into the bios and set fans to quiet
- Get a case with adjustable fans and set them on low
- Don't skimp on the power supply, over-provision
- Buy a strix graphics card, great coolers
- Set cpu voltage manually, motherboard over-volts by default
- Configure ram manually instead of xmp, motherboard over-volts by default

This is not right then. Mine is sitting next to my desk on the floor, to one side and indistinctly if on idle/gaming, I will hear the same droning sound

I just had to replace a case fan due to a very loud noise. Unfortunately at first I thought it was the CPU cooler and ended up replacing this as well. It didn’t matter as it was only the intel stock cooler I had been using for a few years.

In the end I was able to identify the case fan by applying a small amount of pressure on the centre spindle of the fan whilst it was running. As soon as I pressed onto it the noise disappeared temporarily. I’ve now replaced it and no such sound.

I couldn't access all the plugs for each corresponding fan but I tried as suggested below to pause them temporarily by applying gentle pressure with my finger in the middle, the sound still didn't go away.

That might leave me with a noisy PSU fan which I could not try since I can't even see where the opening is or where the fan is. I suspect is blowing/sucking from the concealed bottom.

If it were the PSU, is there anything I can do apart from replacing it? I mean the manufacturer suggests the noise does not exceed 25 dB but I don't think it's my case.

Use SpeedFan to temporarily stop all the fans you can entirely - case, CPU, gfx card etc...

If you have any it can't control, grab a copy of Argus Monitor - it's commercial but the 30 day free trial isn't limited in terms of functionality.

If it still sounds the same with all the fans stopped, then it must be the PSU fan. I replaced my PSU a few months ago after it had become the loudest one in my system when at idle.

If it is the PSU fan, cleaning it out might help, but it's more likely you'd need to either put up with it or get a different one. I went with a model that doesn't spin its fan at all below about 400W load, which means it only ever needs to spin when gaming, when the other fans will be louder anyway.

I have the feeling it's the PSU. When I literally placed my ear as close as I could, it feels as if it is the one creating the noise but hard to say with so much stuff spinning at the same time.

Funny thing is, this PC has been loud from the first time I turned it on, I bought it pre-assembled on Mar 2020 so I don't think the PSU is going bad or something. It likely has to do with a loud PSU in any case.

Thanks for the help, I have contacted the seller to see what suggestions they have given they would have built others like this one.

OK - so I did some more digging around and as someone mentioned above, it could be the PCH fan, the chipset fan, which the BIOS reports at 1500-2000 RPM with no option to manually adjust the curve and at 60°C.
Apparently when running with a 2000 or 3000 GFX, it overhangs the chipset and triggers it but in my case it s there from the start to the end.
Asus has not given so far an option to change the speed of this fan but the strange thing is many report the noise and others say there is none, so would you think of any solutions?
