Loud Power Supply?

Hey, I've noticed recently that my power supply is the loudest component in my computer, is this normal? I have a Antec High Current Gamer 850W Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply, which I've noticed isn't on the site anymore.

Anyone have the same issue? or is this just normal.

most power supply's are "audible" unless you get a a bequite or one that only spins up after a certain load, this is pretty normal

The Antec HCP-850M (and the 750W version, and any other unit based on the same design which is the Seasonic SS-xxxAM, otherwise known as M12II Bronze 650-850W. The non-modular version is SS-xxxAT) are known to be noisy units. Especially as their minimum fan speeds are quite high.

There are quite a lot of units available which have more reasonable minimum fan speeds, but unfortunately you can't take it for granted, even with high efficiency (80 PLUS Gold) units.
