Hi all

i recently purchased a pre built amd phenom 965 system, but it seems to be really loud, ive put my ear next to it to try determine the problem and it sounds like the power supply unit, the fan seems very loud and is blowing a lot of air out (system is not overheating 40c temps)

its a winpower 500w.

should i go ahead and buy a new psu? ive never changed a psu before, but looking at a few youtube videos seems a case of sliding it out and plugging everything back in.

can anyone recommend me some?

i dont have much just a 500gb hdd, a gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H with intergrated graphics, 4gb of ram, also 2 silent cooling fans on the case

budget something below £40 that is around same wattage or lower, i dont game or anything, IT MUST BE SILENT!

i can post an audio clip if that helps

Yup I would go with the PS recommended. If its only just started to be loud then there is either a fault or its sucked some crap up, more likely the first.

it is very easy, if you can build lego you can change a psu. to state the obvious just keep grounding yourself so as not to static shock any components, psus are normally the culprits for noise imo.

its been this loud since the day i got it, i will probably go ahead and buy the one posted

just to add my current psu is one of them switchable ones from 115v to 230v
