Loud whine from Graphics Card, no picture?

Just installed an Inno 8800gt graphics card that I got at auction.

When I boot my machine it emits a loud whine and nothing is displayed on screen. Putting my old 8600gt back in and no whining or anything.

Is the card borked or am I doing something wrong? Not getting any POST bleeps either.

Seems to have been solved by using a different power socket on my corsair power supply.

yup, some nvidia cards whine loudly when the external power cable isnt plugged in/working
