check out the Sparkle 7600GT 256mb :|... Jesus christ!... sounds like a REALLY high pitched and loud "Hiss"/Vaccum cleaner. Horrible sound. Overpowers everything else in my old pc put together

Speaking of loud fans, my X1900XT's fan is really getting me down.

Yup even on idle it makes a droaning sound (mate has X1800XT in a HTPC so obvious what is making the racket) Even on a gaming rig noise is annoying when it speeds up/down during a game. Replace the stock cooler.

My stock 1800xt fan was ridiculous, sounded like a jet turbine starting up. Get a Zalman VF-900, problem sorted. :)

I would do, but I'll be upgrading shortly anyway - so there would be no real benefit. Maybe get a few more quid for it on re-sale, but nothing amazing.

Same here tbh. Its 10:20 now.... my 8800GTX should be here in a few mins :P

I had a fx 5800 ultra, got it cheap and after a few weeks with it I had to get something else - sold it to a polish guy at work though, they will buy anything!!

loudest thing i ever heard coming from a PC was someone in my college made a custom GPU cooler with a motor from a powertool 24,000RPM 120mm fan :D it was like a leafblower ;)

Jeeez... must have been cool! lol.... Ive seen a mod where a guy has taken a Dremel engine... and put a 200mm fan on it... not sure what RPM dremmels spin upto tho? :p

lol only worked for about a minute until 120mm fan-a-la sushi, the fan just disintergrated, you can do it with a dremel and CDs, dremels spin obserdly fast, like 25,000RPM or something, stick a CD on the end of one and it just explodes :D
