so recently i started playing this game i knew nothing about (i did not even know it was an RPG) and soon became hooked.

today i completed the final mission, not realising it was the final mission.
i was very dissapointed! i thought there was hours and hours to go

i thought there was a lot more to do on the main story, you could explore less than 20% of the map and complete the main story!

I loved the concept of the game.. leveling up a character in a very open world with an infinite amount of variables seemingly. what i didnt like is that the main story used very little of this! luckily i have plenty of saves to jump back to. in general i dont care about a good story as i usually forget what i have done (ie i forgot a vital piece of info in the final mission) and just care about the actually play being progressive and constantly challenging but with clear progression. I am so bad with story linesthat i didn't realise until about 2 minutes before the end that this was the end! (this is especially true here when a side quest comes up, doing it, then loose track of the main goal)

I guess im just disappointed that the main quest did not take you at least on a wander around the expanse. Id also like the side quests to have a little more value where they might alter the main story with a special item. also i had been stockpiling weaponry expecting a longer campaign with more and more harder and harder enemies.. i only used the fatman a couple of times as i thought 'id need it later'

amazing game that i feel should have been so much more.

I still adore the game and doing the side missions and will be getting NV, its just a shame you dont have to do more to complete the mission. even if its just going to point X to find item Y. the ease of the missions makes the side missions utterly pointless unless you like to do them. shame they were not a little more valuable.

its a little tricky describing my feelings about this game.. the main mission construction was one of the worst ive come across in any game but the game concept and possibilities make it one of the best games i have EVER played

You've got the wrong idea about it in the case then. The appeal of Fallout is that it's a free roaming game, you can roam and explore nearly the whole map as you please.

The main story is there to get stuff done, but it doesn't mean it's lacking in story, there's so much more to the game. I spent hours on hours wandering around, exploring, reading stuff and generally getting immersed in the world.

There's load of story in the side quests, it's loads of fun to just wander around get stuck in to them. Have you done anything related to the expansion packs?

Unless you've done every sidequest and unmarked quest, and unless you've played on anything other than the retardedly easy default difficulty you can't really comment on how hard or easy the game is, nor how much content there is. :p

Its the same as oblivion or skyrim you could complete the game in no time, but if you bother to explore and walk of the beaten path you will find many side quests which will immerse you further into the game.

I think i put over 100 hours into fallout 3, more on oblivion ,but have lost interest in rpg's since

Was just going to say one of the DLCs makes the game continue after the last mission. I had goty so couldn't remember which one it was.

I do love the game I just wouldhave liked some of the side quests to make more of a contribution to the main quests. I understand and love the openness just wish it was used a bit more

I'll be getting fo3 and NV on the pc in GOTY. Again I didn't know what they were so didn't even think about it when I got fo3 for cheap

That's kinda not the point. The sidequests have their own stories. It links in with the main story in a way but that's the point of these games. Big open free world, the idea is that they're trying to make it seem like a living world.

Everyone being obsessed with the main story wouldn't be very good or realistic.
