Just wondering how many people succeed in getting the latest games on their rental lists? So far they've only sent me older games I had on there.

Only just come out of the 3 month Trial but they seem inconsistent.

Managed to get Halo 3 on day of release which I was really suprised at - and guess just lucky with the date I posted back previous disk and when they processed my next pick.

Still had no luck with Bioshock or Assassins Creed yet though - the former has been on high priority since release.

They seem the same on DVD's though - Managed to get through whole of season 1 Prison break with disks back to back then waited over a month for season 2 - and gave up!

Thinks its just luck to be honest!

What I don't understand is their pricing policy though - its cost more for a rental plan including games rather than just DVD's. Granted a game is more expensive than a DVD - but if you borrow a film you likely return it the next day, I had Halo 3 for 3 weeks! - I would have thought with games they are saving so much more on 1st class mail costs per month?

That's the thing though? If people are keeping games for 3 weeks then they are going to theoretically need many more copies for people to rent. There'll be a faster turnaround for movies because people don't keep them as long and hence less copies required. That could be offset though by less people renting games than movies. All swings and roundabouts.

never had a new game

unless you count these as new
Untold Legends Dark Kingdoms (think champions of norrath except better graphics)
FF XII
Suikoden 5
Valkyrie Profile 2

Rise of the Silver Surfer (utter garbage)

newest dvd/bluray ive had is Next.

Most of the stuff i have on my list now is relatively new.

update: ahh im now due to receive
Stranger than Fiction (bluray)
Hot Fuzz (dvd)

so its getting a bit better. Basically you get the older titles on your list first i reckon. They dont seem to pay much attention to the priority of the item.

I had complained because they werent sending me any games, and they replied that ppl keep them for longer so thats why i wasnt getting any. Point is, they shouldnt be advertising that you can actually rent their new stuff if in reality you end up waiting months and months for them (by which time it isnt new).
I suspect they have too little stock of the new stuff for the majority of people so a minority get the newer titles each month.

Multiple lists is the answer. As soon as Assassin's Creed became available I made a new list and assigned a disc to it. They posted it on friday.

The Orange Box I got the week after its release, and that was in the list with 4 other games.

And I've just had CoD4 pop through the door.

Anyway, I keep a list for games and one for movies and just move the disc allocation around as needed.

Multiple lists sounds interesting.

I actually set that up last week after you said that, but havent had a chance to try.

Problem is both Kingdom of Heaven Blu ray and LXG Blu Ray both havent turned up despite being posted out 14/11/2007.

I reckon their lost, i've sent them a "disc has not arrived" note though, what do they usually do? Post new ones out or what?

Yes they do pay attention. If they haven't got that particular DVD in stock - how can they send it to you ?.

Usually, yes. They get you to fill in a Royal Mail form thingy but straightaway they put the discs back into your queue and send them out again.

I've been with Lovefilm 6 months and overall if you know how to play the system they're not too bad. I've 2 lists, one for games and one for films. The trick to getting what you want is just delete everything else and only have that one or two titles. You may have to wait an extra day or two but you will get it. The thing is their 'medium priority' still means you really want it so they won't go out of their way to send you high priority titles.

By paying 3 months in advance it works out about £11 a month so it's really not that bad. Plus I live in a small village, the nearest rental is a good drive away and there's a post box 10m from my front door.

The discs I get out seem to be completely random, sometimes brand new ones come out straight away and other times they sit on the list for ages. My main issue with lovefilm at the moment is how slow they've been at getting discs out, eg they say they've recieved one on Monday, but I don't get a new one sent until Wednesday.

But they say to send discs back and get a receipt from the P.O.

Its good at this end. But I only get movies.

Send a disc back Monday and I'd have the replacement usually by wednesday. Sometimes thursday. But still, That's not bad.

I just rip the cover off my disc envelope and send it straight back for free. Are you thinking of someone else? or maybe there's a different policy depending on where you live.

Edit: And I've currently Eternal Sonata out from one list and they've just sent me Pan's Labyrinth from the other.

so uhmm you have 2 separate accounts basically? 1 for films and 1 for games? They will allow that for the same address?

They recommend having a minimum of 20 titles on your list, so i should just ignore that you reckon?

not sure how multiples list thing goes... I should delete everything from my list and as soon as something i want becomes available just stick that 1 item on it?

No, no need for two account. If you're on a two disc package just create a 2nd list then move a load of titles across. Before they had the lists I'd delete everything other than 1/2 games I wanted after sending a disc back; it'd take maybe an extra day but I'd almost always get the game I wanted.

If you only have 1/2 discs on a list sure they'll send you some automated emails suggesting you add more but ignore them :)

Ahhh. i should mention its not lovefilm but tesco (delete if appropriate cheers mods) i'm with but still lovefilm (if you know what i mean) so just 1 list 2 dvds/games at home month unlimited £13. I usually get through 4 a week and they've been pretty good with the turnaround so far.

i might try that strategy of just having 4 or 5 items on my list cheers.

The thing you're all missing guys is that for the service to work you need lots of entries in your lists of stuff that you want to watch or play. That way you're always ensured that have at least some of your chosen films to send out straight away. I always have over 100 entries in my list and my discs are always turned around the same day.

If you are made to wait then you dont have enough in your list.
