What is the point of this?

Got some 6 month sub from Amazon and am looking on there to subscribe thinking OK watch something decent online.

Most things are either dire or ancient. If its anything recent its asking for more money... I mean am I missing something with this?

Is this online side of things worse than the DVD postal service?

Just seems a bit poor tbh, I was expecting a nice long list of films and all I get is 4000 episodes of Peep Show, sprinkled in with Scooby Doo 1-8 and Jersey Girl as the top rated comedy movies!

You have to negotiate with the film studios for streaming service rights. It's not the fault of lovefilm. I suspect greed.

The postal service is fine, although some people encounter difficulties (same as any company, to be frank). I've heard the streaming side is pretty awful.

Really your asking if the postal service is better. After you've looked at the site. Of course it is. Can't you see the titles avilable.

Im not a movie fan tbh so I dont know whats good or not.

Lampoons Christmas is on this streaming lark, thats funny - might as well watch that.

need to cancel mine actually, cheers for reminding me.

I signed up on my PS3 when my PC was down for over a month in order to get me through that dark period. Now I can't figure out how to unsubscribe on the PS3.

EDIT: cancelling this is very long winded, have to call them and they try to persuade you with one month extra free with a gaming package upgrade at no extra cost to stay on. Then told me I can take an account "holiday" and still benefit from that offer etc. Then when he finally realised I wasn't budging he told me I can just log in and reactivate whenever I want with the same username and password. All I wanted to do is cancel and I got the Spanish Inquisition treatment.

I have been with lovefilm since I can remember. Now get 3 films sent to me, watch them within 3 days, send them back, then I get another 3 a couple of days later.

I can say I have never had a problem with the service, nor the discs.

But yeah the online streaming is not good.

I had this exact issue, even when I kept saying "I just want to cancel" really annoying!

My bluray player has lovefilm on it. I was wondering what the streaming was like.

Virgin Media tends to be OK but a bit limited in choice...

Semi Pro and Tropic Thunder on my list of rents atm... look forward to them.

Seems like a lot more rentals are on the list, but i might watch Battle Royale tonight on the Ipad2 .

Got Lovefilm for the postal service, only had one defective disc so far (it really was scratched to ****). The average Lovefilm customer hasn't quite mastered the art of picking up discs without leaving their greasy fingerprints on yet however :(.

My main gripe is a lot of things I want are "not available for rental" and just links to Amazon. Derp, if I wanted to buy it I'd have gone to Amazon! Heck I did once go to rent something, "not available for rental", follow the link to Amazon to buy, and on the Amazon item page was a link suggesting I might like to try Lovefilm . That said my rental list currently has 68 titles queued, so not everything is unavailable.

Streaming service is naff, I don't bother with it.

Can't comment on the streaming service but the post service is good. Fast and reliable and they have pretty much any film you can imagine.

I had this too. Really *** please fully star swearies in future *** annoying. I said "I want to cancel my account and I'm not interested in any other possible offer" but the lady just ignored me and continued blabbering on about a load of crap. It's put me right off Lovefilm in general. I might have considered returning to them some point in the future, but not any more. ***holes. :)

Rented a few hundred films in total since joining 6/7 years or so ago now...

Postal service with blu-rays etc is far superior to streaming. The best thing is you'll also get a lot more cool foreign films than you can download or stream.

I use it for game rental and it's pretty good, generally get recent games. I've only briefly tried the streaming but it's not terrible, it does have Tron and A christmas Story.

The problem is streaming in general as we don't seem to have any services like netflix and have it on a per movie basis(which is no fun). I'm looking forward to next year with roku releasing their boxes and xbox getting more services but atm it's pretty naff.

for those that need to cancel you can cancel it online as long as you do it after their phone support shuts

Nice one, just cancelled.

Ive not cancelled due to being a bad experience, Ive been with them since they were called something else, and something else before that. Never had any problems with them, discs (movies and games) arrived very quickly and rarely a dud disc. On the rare occasion a disc got lost in the post they didn't quibble and sent me the next disc out.

No complaints, Im just not getting my monies worth out of my subscription, would recommend.

I thought the quality of streaming was alright last night, watched some of Lampoons on the PC and then some Norweigian thing called Das Snow or something.. was about Nazi Zombies that liked to eat intestines and came across 6 people in a snow cabin... had subtitles, but was sort of a funny horror.. watched this one on the Ipad2 and was fine and dandy.
