Just upgraded my CPU

New setup
----------
E6300
2 gigs of DDR 2 667
X800 GTO2
Default Clocks

3Dmark 2005 = 4855
3Dmark 2006 = 1683

Old Setup
----------
A64 3000+
2 gigs of DDR 400
X800 GTO2
Default Clocks

3Dmark 2005 = 5034
3Dmark 2006 = 1741

Was I wrong to expect a reasonable increase?
Or have I missed something in the bios setup?

Not sure exactly what kinda increase you should see but it isn't gonna be massive, 3D Mark is pretty graphics intensive, seeing as it is a gaming benchmark. I'd try 2001 SE or a CPU bench and match that to others scores.

It should still be more than that as 3d06 takes into account the processing power of the cpu and as conroe is dual core it should score higher than the 3000a64

Both 3D Mark 05 and 06 are very GFX bound, try running something like 01 to see what that CPU can do.

With your card being a little on the old side, neither CPU will be stretching its legs much.

Ok Lads thx for replies will bench the CPU like suggested.

The motherboard is a Asrock 945G-DVI. I didnt fancy any of the more expensive boards at the moment thought i would make do with a cheaper one till the more mature boards come out. Even though the Asrock board was on par with all the other more expensive boards in the reviews I read.

Cheers
