Hey guys,

I have a mate who bought a under-powered PC, he needs a new GPU as he has a GT 710 atm, but his budget is tight, it is around 50-60 quid..

What would be the best card for this budget..

Low quality PC means powered by the motherboard, and no power connections.

He is looking at the R7 260X, how is that for temps and performance, his main usage is for CS GO..

cheers guys, RTJ

What PSU does he have as the R7 260x can draw upto 150W if its a no-name PSU I wouldnt trust it.

Your title is wrong by the way.

Yeah, I meant GPU, not CPU :( my bad. His PSU is a crappy 500W unbranded, but has no additional power connectors etc so I was a bit worried about the power draw

How would the GT 730 be, or a 750ti? Better from the 710 and how about draw??

I would say have a look for a 750Ti, I would avoid the Radeon on low end systems as the cards get bottlenecked by the CPU unfortunately. Saying that CS:GO should pretty much run on anything.

thanks for the reply buddy..yeah, the 750ti looks interesting and hopefully he can stretch a little more in budget, will speak to him today about it..he is getting around 35-50fps on CS GO atm but wants more and im sure the 750 will be a good upgrade to get around 50-60+ ??

I would go for the 2gb rx460 at £90ish or £107 for a GTX1050. Both have very low power requirements and would offer pretty good performance.

his budget is £50-£60!

500w should be enough although if its unbranded I wouldnt trust it.
To get the best bang for buck at that price you need to go 2nd hand.
GT730 isnt good enough either.
750 will be amazing if you can get the 750TI and not the plain 750 but they are difficult sometimes to come by at around £60. I would look to go 2nd hand.

btw CSGO is just as much if not more CPU intensive so if it hasnt got a decent CPU that will be a limiting factor too.

7950s are starting to hit the £50 mark second hand, and they beat the 750ti to a pulp (even with a hefty OC on the 750TI), downside is that would need a new PSU :(

If the PSU is indeed 500W then it should have PCI Express power cables. Is the PSU modular and are the cables just not fitted? Or tucked away?
