Hi all,

How does this look for a PC for basic office type work? I have an Antec 300 and a Radeon 4850 to donate. I know I could make savings on the SSD (to HDD) but I'm a big fan of them.

My main concern is the bundle. Will it be OK? I just picked the second cheapest...

As long as you don't need the extra storage then that will be fine. The OS will pretty much fill that SSD with the updates which means you will have no storage whatsoever. Is £300 your maximum budget?

Only downside to it I can see is that it only has Sata 2 on the mobo (I think I found the right one) and the SSD is only Sata 2. Ideally they would be Sata 3.

Working on a £300 budget you could use the b grades components and get a lot more for your money. This includes 500GB HDD, 120gb SSD, 8gb RAM and a quad core CPU (with no B-grades).

1 x MSI A55M-E33 AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £40.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £35.99

Slightly over but worth it.

Cheers!

I just scavenged a 250GB HDD under my desk which I forgot about, so no worries there. There isn't really a budget, just minimum possible that will fulfill requirements of a PC that can be used for Office, browsing and spotify. A SATA 3 mobo/SSD would be nice but I never actually noticed any 'real-world' improvements going from a SATA 2 SSD setup to a SATA 3 setup, so I guess the guy I'm building it for won't notice either!
