Hey,

From what i have been reading about similar setups i dont seem to be getting the clocks i would like.

Setup:

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2
Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB)
Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
Asus Xonar D2 7.1 PCI Sound Card - Retail

400W Targan PSU
1 dvd rw
1 320Gb segate baracuda (SATA)

The best i could get is:

255*10 (2.55Ghz)

I am pretty sure this isnt the ram as its set the didivder to 1:1 and still wont post.

p.s i have set the ram to stock voltage (2.1) instead of the default the ip35 board sets it to.

If i try any more than 2.55Ghz then the PC powers on but nothing shows on the screens a i have to reset the cmos, i have also tried upping the cpu voltage by 15%~

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Only thought is your motherboard - can we have bit more info on the model?

Its the Abit IP35: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-131-AB&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat= from what i've read it should be a good board for clocking.

Have you tried lowering the multiplier and raising the FSB?

Nope, should this allow me to achieve higher clock speeds? I will defiantly give it ago this evening.

My other thought is maybe the PSU isnt powerful enough, is there any way i can confirm this though?

Thanks

Basically lowering the multi will allow u to see whether it is the FSB holding you back.

IP35 is a great board for overclocking, I could only get my E6300 to 3.0ghz (7*430) on my Gigabyte 965P-DS4, anything higher and it wouldn't post, but since getting this IP35 Pro I am sitting here at 3.3ghz (7*472) rock solid stable. There may be more to come yet, I haven't tried pushing it further.
