Hey guys,

I have an activation date of the 31/10/22 and this will be a router only. So what I would like is a MESH system recommendation to place in 2-3 rooms to help with the wireless signal, (main components, Mac, xbox, tv etc is hardwired) its for the phones and laptops I looking for in this particular setup.

Looking at the Tenda Nova MW6 MESH kit. Any good?

just read through all the questions. you can use this "extender" in 2 ways.

1. Connect from the router via wifi and then use the Ethernet ports to hardwire to the devices.

2. Connect Ethernet from the router directly to the "extender" and then boost wifi from the EX7700.

I Wass after the latter (2.) so I have placed an order, will see tomorrow if its worth keeping, as it can always go back, but think this will suit ideal.

I've not used mesh network, but I have run 2 openwrt routers in the configuration you describe.

I imagine you can get away with it on any router really. Just turn off DHCP, assign it a static ip on the same subnet as your LAN, assign the gateway to the primary router.

As for wireless you can just make another wireless network with the same name and password as your original network, put it on a different non-overlapping channel though so that you get better performance.

Worked fine for me. There is a feature though, I can't remember the name off the top of my head, it's like a seamless handover to roam between the 2 wireless access points... you might not have access to that, although it only really comes in useful if you're using a phone streaming and moving about the house. I have a feeling mesh networks handle that for you.

well, I received my Netgear EX7700 from the Rainforest today, and not long finished setting it up.

I must say, im quite pleased. Easy to setup / update firmware. Once all setup, I moved in to my man-cave and connected it up, via Ethernet..now, on my iPad, phone and MBP im getting near my full speed, around 50mbps and my average on my MM when connected directly via Ethernet 65-70mbps.

Also I have been keeping an eye on my signal strength, before using the "SKY box / booster" I was getting mostly one bar and sometimes dropping to 5G via mobile data. Now, for the most part in the same positions they are full at 3 bars!

Picked up a used "very good condition" from Amazon to test it out without paying mega bucks up front. And it came as described, and don't think I will be returning this, assuming everything stays close to what it is working like now!
