Hi,

I have a 22gb Windows Vista 64 partition on my laptop. I have just 300mb of free space but cannot find where the rest of its gone.

I only have 4 folders on this drive!

Program Files - 318mb
Program Files (x86) 1.37gb
Users - 938mb
Windows - 6.23gb

I use Hibernation so there will be a 2Gb Hiberfile somewhere as well.

But thats barely 10gb - where is the other 10gb hiding?

disable system restore
clear out restore poitns

also..

install ccleaner slim and run that (removes temp files -untick cookies etc in IE and firefox if you want to keep them)

It will all be in system restore or shadow copies.

However unlike Bledd. I wouldn't turn off system restore, just remember to periodically delete all but the latest restore point.

forgot the 2nd part..

do this..

start, type
cmd , right click it, and choose 'run as admin'

then paste this into cmd.exe

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /for=C: /maxsize=300mb

this limits the ammount windows can use for shadow copies/system restore to 300mb

also..

start, cleanmgr

more options, clean up 'system restore and shadow copies'

---

did you run ccleaner slim?, great for clearing out temp files
